Lake st clair fishing report today

A fresh wave of fat pre-spawn male smallmouth bass pulled up on Lake St. Clair last week. Lots of 2.75-3.5lb fish with occasional four pounders mixed in. Lots of numbers right now on shallow flats in 5-9 ft of water, feeding on small 2-3” perch (see picture).

After the main lake gets iffy the canals should be a week or so longer. Would think without a major rain the ice itself on the lake shouldn't be affected at all really just the snow on top the lake. Just need to avoid river mouths or creeks etc, where the runoff enters the lake.Jun 17, 2022 ... Ive been fishing metro for years, and the only species of gar ive seen back there are the longnose.
